ThuSept29 Vince Vaughn

Vince Vaughn can't act.

I'm just after watching the just-watchable Domestic Disturbance on TV for no other reason than it was on. Vince plays the bad guy in it - except that he really doesn't play anything in anything, he's just himself and a bit more frowny.

He's a nice guy an all, seems quite funny but not an actor. And he's made millions.

John Travolta was ok in it though.

The thing I most miss about working earlier in the day: movies. I spent a lot of time in the cinema before I was a nighttime DJ. I guess I could go during the day, but it's just not the same.

WedSept29 A Few Mails...

Tonight we were speaking the German. Just put an "en" at the end of the word, and it becomes German. For example, to say "I like the Blast" in German is "I liken the Blasten". Easy! here comes an email from Al:

Here in Frankfurt listening to german friends are very impressed and say you sound very sexy speaking the old deutsch and want you to try this word : Rindfleischetikettierungsüberwachungsaufgabenübertragungsgesetz -(Law on delegation of supervision duties for marking of cattle and labeling of beef)

from the fox

We also touched on Don't Just Tell A Friend, Tell... EVERYONE!!!

Hey Ray & JP
Karen here from the competition last night. Cheers lads, it was like being famous at school today, had everyone coming up to me saying "oh my god I heard you on the blast last night with those two daft eejits."

Thanks Karen. Looks like the good word of Foley is spreading across the west.

Chris in Limerick got Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

The Killers - Mr Brightside

Oh, and one more email:

Hey, Love the show, I think this because its pretty much like (except a little better, and with music)! Maybe if you mention the audio show on The Blast ... maybe we might tell everyone (over the air) about the blast?!?!? Hmmm... Someone told me about the show, listen to it religiously now!!!

Please reply

My reply: except a LITTLE better? A LITTLE better? A bloody lot better, sunshine. Although you two are still better than many other presenters.

That's all folks!

MonSept26 Don't Just Tell A Friend...

Yep, there we go again - roping people in to listening against their will. Well, look at it this way: it'll pay off. For us. So remember kids: don't just tell a friend.

What we get up to tonight?

Some pleb in Tipp says she's not sexy. In this case, you're not entitled to your own opinion.

WedSept21 Happy Birthday From The Man...

TuesSept20 Ray Foley, 25

I'm 25 now. I really need to grow up and cop on.

On a more upbeat note, do you remember the mid-90's Sky One show called Profit? About a guy called Jim Profit who was all evil and stuff and screwed over the management of this big US corporation? No? Well, I bought it on DVD and it arrived today. By the way - buy your DVD's from the states and get a multi-region DVD player. The player might cost you a bit more, but the DVD's cost way less.

Movin' on...

On the show:

Blink 182 - All The Small Things

Green Day - Time of Your Life/Good Riddance

MonSept19 - Pictures!

Was just chatting to the taxi driver on my way home. His son is leaving the country for good next week to move to... wait for it... BERMUDA! Lucky son of a taxi driver. His girlfriend is from there, so they're moving next week. Sods.

My back is back to it's old crap again. In fact I think I'll just have to stop bitching about it and fork out whatever, 20 grand for a doctor's appointment. Actually I might get Eddie Hobbs to get me a deal on one...

Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah - I promised you pictures, so here they are...

Didn't you know JP was cross-eyed? Not so bleedin' better lookin than me now, is he? Bitches.

Me, looking evil while showing you my less pube-ish hair"style".

Be enthusiastic about everything!!!

The big nose debate rages on...

And JP takes his music to the next level...

So, anyway - how're things going on the show? Very well, actually. It seems our "Don't Just Tell A Friend - Tell Everyone" campaign is working well enough. The dumb justice for JP campaign is finally slowing down, and Blast music is just cracking at the moment. Here's how we did tonight:

No difference - a ton is a ton.

John in Claremorris got Liam Lynch - United States of Whateverr

SunSept19 The Return of The Blog

Ok - I'm back. My back's still a bit iffy, but it's mostly better. Man, what a shite show tonight! Goes to show that even the greats like me & JP have off nights. Should make any of you wannabe's feel better.

So - what's been going on? Well, we bought some "wacky" sound-making stuff for the show: a xylophone and a keyboard. I also want to get one of those bell/ding things you get at a hotel reception and a kazoo. If you know where I can get one or both, drop me a line at the usual address.

Been looking at the Justice for JP site, and they're as lazy as I am when it somes to updates. Get the finger out, you whining dogs! I believe the campaign is due to come to an end this week, with a press conference which will end the debate once and for all... keep it here for more...

Got hammered on Friday night. Don't do it kids - stay away from drink for the rest of your lives. I hate to admit it, but being the honest type, here goes: I got sick. Yes, I spent about 20 minutes on Friday night talking on the porcelain telephone. Felt much better afterwards though. We'd been drinking something known as mixed berry cider. DO NOT DRINK MORE THAN 1 PINT OF THIS STUFF!!! It tastes like fizzy Ribena on the way down, and like hell on the way up. Again - AVOID!!!

Hi also to Dusty (Rhodes - yes that one- long time hero from when I was a wannabe), and apologies once again - I called him on Friday and the first thing he said to me when he picked up the phone was "Hey Ray, just letting you know you're on speakerphone and my 8-year-old son is in the car."
"No problem," I reply. "I'll be careful".
"Cool - so how're things - any news?"
"No man, not a f**king - er, I mean effing thing... sorry."
"Ha ha - don't worry about it - what are you up to?"
"F**k all - sorry, I mean eff all..."
(sound of phone being taken off speakerphone)
"I'll call you later."
"Ok bye."

I think it's just if I have to not swear, I'm way more likely to say something I shouldn't. Anyway, sorry again - I genuinely f**king am.

By the way, I got a haircut. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it.

A ring.

Sum 41 - In Too Deep

R Kelly - Ignition

Good night

TuesSept14 37 Signatures?

37 Signatures?

You girls'll have to do better than that...

TuesSept14 More Excuses

I'm turning into one of those deeply annoying DJ's (yes, I already was one of those) who post apologies for not posting on their blogs, but I do have an excuse: my back is in ribbons, and I can't sit in a chair for long without it spazzing out. You may have heard me bitch and moan about it during the show a couple of times... I will commit to nightly updates after each show just as soon as it clears up.

Oh - about the playlist: we didn't change it on Monday, although there might be a few changes before the weekend, possibly losing Akon and Robbie, and bringing in X-Press 2 again. That's an absolutely cracking tune. I'll play it again tomorrow (Wed) night.

Other things I want to write about when my back stops with the spazzing:
  • Vision - again.
  • PSP.
  • A day job.
  • My birthday!!! IT'S ON THE 21ST OF SEPTEMBER!!! DON'T FORGET!!!
  • You've forgotten, haven't you? My birthday?
The fight for freedom continues : ~ ]

Sorry - I just didn't think my website had been self-centred enough up to now.

This week's music is still to come.

SunSept11 - Excuses, Excuses...

Lads I'm really sorry, but my back is in bits and I can't sit here for very long. Dunno what's wrong with me.

Just a couple of things:

Don't mix drinks.

I don't have a big nose. It's manly.

It was bang on the North Pole.

DJ Quicksilver - Belissima

Oasis - The Importance of Being Idle

WedSept07 - (More) Justice for JP

Well, as you've heard, D'arcy, Cawley, Dunne and Cash are all on board now: proving that Today FM DJ's will support whoever gives them the most money.

This ridiculous campaign also has it's own website:

Andrew in Dublin got Fatboy Slim - Praise You

Gwen Stefani - Cool

TuesSept06 - Justice For JP?

Ok, this Justice for JP crap has got to stop. Tonight there was a groundswell of public support for JP's name to be included in the name of the show. I'm not interested in change. I think that in these trying times where radio stations (not naming names) can't decide what shows they have on from one week to the next, The Blast must deliver the professionalism and consistency you've come to expect, so you can just go and cancel the Justice for JP fundraising concert - it's a waste of time.

For God's sake - this so-called "organisation" don't even have a web site!

Tom Dunne appeared - to plug his nephew's band. Something stone... Jellystone? Yellowstone? 15 and a half stone? They're on in Whelans in Dublin on Wednesday night. He forgot to do it himself. But go and see them if you're around.

Robbie Williams' new song, Tripping: Not a big fan, yet - but I am prepared to give it a chance to let it grow on me. JP really likes it.

24 kilos.

Ailish in Maynooth got Chemical Brothers - Block Rockin' Beats

Killers - Mr Brightside

MonSept05 - Pirate Radio

Heard some VERY embarassing bits of me on pirate radio - but thanks to all of the kind people who said I was bearable. That friggin' doorbell was going off all night too.

We were talking about this news story from Star Sunday about our friends across the pond, 2FM - where the nighttime DJ's complain that they have to answer the phones by themselves ! Poor babies! True, some say that I have JP on my show, but realistically the show would probably be better without him on it.

The match.

Oh, yes. I keep my promises, kids. Tonight was House of Pain - Jump Around. Noel in Limerick got it right. Eventually.

Keane - This Is The Last Time

SunSept04 - That F**king Doorbell!

Pesky kids, ringing the doorbell and running off. If I catch them, I'll tan their hides... sorry, got caught in a time warp. Back in '05 again.

Well, that was an interesting show. If you missed it, we'll need a note from your mammy, and you'll have to get the notes from someone else. By the way, for the confused few, the ENTERTAINMENT UPDATE only runs Mon-Thursday. There's nothing really worth taking the piss out of on Sunday nights.

She was buying numbers for her house. Each individual figure cost 12cent.

Oh, I meant to mention on air and forgot, but the quality of THE OLDIE BUT A GOODIE GUESSING GAME... STRIKES BACK! songs is set to increase over the next few weeks. Any suggestions - add to the mountain by emailing here. In light of these quality control commitments, tonight's TOBAGGGSB! song was Pulp - Common People. Got by JP on behalf of Sarah.

(super-short) LAST REQUEST!!!
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit

That will be all.

WedAug30 - Hold My Hands Up

Ok guys, I’m just not taking this internet site thing seriously enough. What’s worse is that so many of you are emailing and texting the show to tell me to get my internet ass in gear, and I've been blatantly ignoring you. For this, I hold my hands up and say sorry - must, and will try harder.

Went a bit request mad tonight - thanks for your calls.

I don't let her beauty bother me: I just think of it as another way to hate Ben Affleck more.

10km. Stupid hard question.

Green Day - Time of Your Life

Dancing DJ's vs Roxette - Fading Like a Flower

TuesAug30 - Belated Update

Who's got the longest? Echo, that is. Turns out it's JP. But size doesn't matter, don't you know?

Jesus - it's like a psychological problem: I keep confusing Hard Fi with kaiser Chiefs. AND THEY SOUND NOTHING ALIKE!

A deck of cards.

Holly Valance - Kiss Kiss. Crap.

Snoop Dogg - Ups & Downs ft The Bee Gees
