Instead of ranting about the Nazi gay defenders, I'm actually going to start my nightly show updates again! After the wee break, we're back in the saddle. But first, here's the funniest joke I've heard all day: how many DJ's does it take to present a breakfast show? Six, apparently.

MonAug30 - Rant: Gay Mark From Westlife

There's a lot of smart, funny people who listen to our show. In fact, we're glad to say that they're in the majority when it comes to texting, calling or emailing to say how they feel, but as the Tayto ads go, there's always one.

In this case, there's always a few stupid morons who feel "outraged on behalf of the gay society" or "never listening to todayfm again bcoz of what u said. anti-gay f**kers". Tonight, we referred to Mark from Westlife - who openly admits he's gay - as "gay Mark from Westlife". Before I continue, I think it's a great thing for him, it's a shame for himself that he couldn't have been honest from the start and enjoyed his life publicly, but fair play to him. Anyway, a few texts followed from the usual sadcases defending the homosexual cause.

If there's one thing that gets my back up, it's the serial idiotic complainers. Talking about it after the show, JP made the point that these people feel outraged because they feel they should feel outraged, but don't make their complaints due to any actual sense of moral obligation to make a stand. They make a complaint hoping it might make them look more intelligent than they actually are. They don't understand exactly what it is they're complaining about, but just that they must complain. These are the type of stupid texts we get on a regular basis from the same few plebs who are outraged by an occasional remark you might hear in any pub in the country:

"What you said about (insert race/sex/sexual orientation/whatever here) was outrageous. I'm complaining to your boss."

I particularly liked three texts tonight. The first I copied above, about us being "anti-gay f**kers". Eh, what? When we called him "gay Mark from Westlife", we hardly called for a pink crucifiction. In fact, the word "gay" (as opposed to some others with negative connotations) was the only one we used, very well aware that we might offend people if we went any further. As for us being anti-gay, that's ridiculous and stupid. I absolutely hate to use the "I've got a gay friend" line, but I do. In fact, I have several. I even talked to one of them in public once. So there.

The second text I found hilarious was the one about us not giving "a thought for any gay young people who might be listening. how do they feel?" My advice to them: get used to it. If you're not comfortable with people using the word gay, what kind of gay are you? If you're a gay young person listening to our show, then you know what you're gonna get - it's not homophobic ranting, but it is having a laugh, and unless you only hang around with other gay people, it's what you'll hear from your mates on any night out on the beer. It's not mean, it's just slagging - the same type of slagging the fat lad and the spotty lad get. Apologies if you're fat, spotty and gay. Raw deal.

The third funny thing I noticed in a couple of complaints, was people declaring their credentials and their "straight"ness in their texts. One woman said she was in her thirties with two kids. Oh, so that makes you qualified to be the spokesperson for the rights of homosexuals these days, does it? Listen love, you don't need to have a PhD to get pregnant, so telling me you've managed to do it twice hardly makes me think "oh, she must really know what she's talking about. I'd better say sorry."

The worst were the people who kept texting "Before you go and say anything, I'm not gay, but..." Actually, why do you people feel you should tell us about your own sexual orientation? You shouldn't be ashamed if we do assume you might be gay. After all you are, in your own narrow mind, defending gay people! There's nothing wrong with it you know! Unless of course you feel maybe you have something to prove? Do you perhaps have something to share with the class? Come on now, we won't judge you. Although if you say you're gay, we might say "gay"...

Oh no: after writing all that I now realise what people got so worked up about. They were defending him from the Westlife tag. "Gay Mark from Westlife." Shit.

I'm back. Ok, so they have no idea why my line went to shit for the night, but the mumbling dude assures me (I think) that they will "keep an eye" on it to see if there's any more trouble with it. I don't know if this involves a geriatric security guard sitting in my room where the computer connects to the internet, but as long as it keeps working (which it appears to be now) then I'm a happy chappy.

Alright, take a look at this:

See where it says "your download speed is 59.1 kbps"? It normally says someting like 2.8Mbps.

And where it says "your upload speed is 6.02 kbps"? It should say around 2.6Mbps.

I'm paying through the nose for a business service I'm not getting and I'm not a happy bunny.

MonAug01 - Moody

Seriously lads, I have no idea what's the matter with me, but I'm in a serious mood. I have been since I got home from Mayo yesterday (Sunday) evening. It's like I'm depressed or something, but I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm suffering from depression - just moody. I think maybe some vitamin supplement or something is in order. What does Berocca and all that stuff do? Are there any better ones? Fizzy ginseng? I'm open to ideas...

The idea of a longer Monday show didn't help the mood. Ugh! How do people work full days? An extra one hour felt like a day! Being a nighttime DJ affords me such student-y luxuries as Oprah and lie-ins that the notion of a "real" job at this stage brings me out in a cold sweat. Normally I am quite a sweaty sod anyway, but this sweat is from fear.

I'm thinking I'll do a course of some sort. At least then when I lie in and watch Oprah in the afternoon I'll be missing lectures like a proper student. Any ideas? I'm debating drama, internet something-or-other or maybe some sort of business thing. Suggestions welcome... unless you're my dad telling me to get a real job and I can't be a student all my life.

The reason I haven't been posting is because my parents way out Wesht haven't caught on to the idea of broadband, and updating over the wonder of dial-up (remember that?) is just too much of a pain in the arse. Also, we've been mucho lazy over the past two nights and done nothing worth mention on the show, so there's been nothing to write.

Christ - with dull, boring posts like these you'd wonder why I'm depressed.
